The Year of Forty Five, Birth of the Brave New World, or What One Can See in Bibliographical Data
Abstract
Producing bibliographical analyses is very rare in domestic practice, probably as a consequence of an insufficiently developed bibliographical theory that isn’t able to demonstrate the range and deeper meaning of the bibliographer’s work. The retrospective national bibliography deals with a large amount of book material and, as such, offers great possibilities for various analytical actions. Being aimed at the past, it is convenient for historiographical treatment, especially with statistical methods. Therefore, the work brings a review of bibliographical material created in 1945 covering the territory of the newly established Yugoslav socialist state, particularly the Socialist Republic of Serbia. The aim was to show how by parsing of the whole of book material from the chosen period one may show and interpret historical and political changes in a certain territory and how it influences a certain historical community, and finally, the very character of the national bibliography, after the paradigmatic turn that took place without any doubt.
