Inclusion in Public Libraries in Serbia

Summary

The paper aims to present inclusive services in public libraries in Serbia. The inclusion is taken in a wider sense of the word and encompasses all groups excluded from social life for any reason. The first part brings the definition of the concept to motivate libraries to question their roles in a local community and to include currently excluded groups of users in their services. The second part consists of an overview of the legal framework. Finally, the paper deals with the current state of activities in public libraries in Serbia, the role of the National Library of Serbia in encouraging inclusiveness and recommendations for future work.
