Libraries for All – Mission (Im)Possible?

Summary

The paper deals with initiatives for the introduction of inclusive services in the City Library of Pančevo for vulnerable categories of citizens. They are usually initiated and carried by the Department for communication and inclusion. The paper presents the genesis, describes examples and effects of these services, and stresses the importance of wider societal action in the field, as well as cooperation with the NGO sector. It mentions the importance of the periodical „Pančevačko čitalište“, later „Čitalište: Scientific Journal for Theory and Practice of Librarianship“ that marked the way to professional advancements. It offered a theoretical base, information and examples of best practices concerning innovative services in the City Library of Pančevo.
