International Academic Collaboration Among Turkish Scientists


Summary
The fundamental research question being pursued in this study is what influences the degree of international collaboration among Turkish scientists? Method used in the study is bibliometric analysis, while the research work conducted prior to the study had used exploratory and qualitative methods. In order to collect data from the Turkish scholars electronically distributed surveys and semi­structured interviews were employed.
According to the findings, both internal and external factors play roles in the international collaboration behavior of Turkish scholars. Possible future implication of this study is that the analytical framework of this study will potentially be useful for analyzing the situation in other developing countries which have a similar scientific and demographic context like Turkey.
