Summary
The article tries to answer the question about the role of a library in the process of constant education and of creation of a cultural model in a society. As an example it takes The International Youth Library from Munich, Germany, as an institution in which the German society after the Second World War was rebuilt, certainly in a symbolic manner. By comparison with the Serbian librarianship the paper opens a door for a possible debate.
