Historical Researches in the Librarianship

Summary
Task of the research of the past is to reveal the authoritative testimonies, determine, evaluate and connect the facts, reconstruct and explain the event (phenomenon, process) starting from the causes, through its course (and participants) to its consequences. The essence of the historian’s work can be brought down to determining the facts, their description, systematization and interpretation (explanation) of the facts and their connections with other facts within time and space. This is a concise description of the historical method, which is used in the research of the past in all sciences.
From the standpoint of the methodology of historical sciences, the paper discusses the need for historical researches in the librarianship. A description of the historical method and an overview of the work stages during the research are included. Part of the paper deals with determination of the facts, the use of synthesis as a scientific process and tells about hypotheses and the use of theories in historical researches. This article is intended for researchers of historical concerns who have not studied the historical methodology.
