What is History of Libraries Teaching Us?

Abstract
This paper tries to give an answer to the complex question: what is history of libraries teaching us? We agree that this important educational and scientific discipline, teaches us primarily about the humanity for the readers, society and librarian profession. It also provides the knowledge on a wide range of issues: the evolution of libraries over the centuries, the education of the librarians, demands regarding the personality of librarians, the development of library architecture and library design, the evolution of the libraries types and their functions and the emergence of new sciences as a result of their integration with the librarianship. Knowledge of the history of world and national libraries, which are an important part of world and national cultural heritage, creates a justified professional confidence of the librarians and the professional audience.

Keywords:
