Vladimir Djordjevic’s legacy at the Library of Faculty of Music in Belgrade


Summary
Topic of this paper id familiarizing with one of the legacies, special libraries that is, located at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade — Vladimir Djordjevic s legacy.This is without any doubt, one of the most valuable branches of the library due to the fact that the largest number of its units belongs to the old – and – rare – book category. This paper briefly describes life of this less known music representative at the first half of the 20th century, his tireless commitment to improving our overail music life and it depicts the acts of the man who was first in Serbia to make a list of all the published works dealing with and regarding Serbian music uo to 1914. The process of revision, protection and development of this collection is currently being done. A comprehensive rewiew of its content will help to evaluate cultural-historical value within the upcomingg period. Simultaneous work shuld be done on the improvment of storage conditions, better availability, its presentation, popultization and its treatment as a cultural asset. Growing concern about the musical heritage may be of a great importance for the international cooperation given fact that the Legacy of Vladimir Djordjevic in the Library of the Faculzy of Music in Belgrade includes a considerable number of works of foreign authors who dealt with Serbian music in their own way.
