One View of the Serbian Periodicals in Bosnia and Herzegovina until 1941
The Role of Serbian Periodicals in Cultural, Educational and Spiritual Life of
Bosnia and Herzegovina until 1941
|
Summary
The Serbian periodicals in Bosnia and Herzegovina have not until now been studied in particular and comprehensively, but only
incidentally and occasionally mentioned in connection with literary work in this environment. Their bibliographic listing has been done
only selectively. Among the other things, those were the reasons for presenting, in form of this essay, the most important Serbian
newspapers and magazines that were published in Sarajevo (Prosvjeta, Bosanska vila, Dabrobosanski istočnik, Srpska riječ, Pregled,
calendars Novi Trebević, Prosvjeta and others), in Mostar (Zora, Srpski vjesnik, Narod), in Banja Luka (Otadžbina, Razvitak) and some
other places. This work is an attempt to form a new view of the entire Serbian periodicals in Bosnia and Herzegovina until 1941,
which include their patient analysis and affirmation. All critical observations should be reasonable and well-intentioned, and bear in
mind the complexity of historical, scientific, social, cultural and educational circumstances in which these newspapers and magazines
were being published. The profiles of their programs, specified in the opening words of their first issues and accomplished during the
course of subsequent publication, should be always kept in mind. Their editors and editorial boards, as well as the institutions whose
publications they represented, were standing behind them.
The title of this essay, „One View of the Serbian Periodicals in Bosnia and Herzegovina until 1941” determines its reduced and
synthesized presentation as a possible basis for writing a broader discussion.
Keywords:
