Summary
The Public Library of Smederevo organize significant number of cultural and educational programs aimed at different categories of users. Young adults were, however, until recently, neglected as participants in these activities. In 2009, a few years after opening of its Foreign Book Department, the Library started a new program intended exclusively to them. It is the foreign poetry reciting competition organized for students who attend high schools on the territory of The Danube District. In a short time the program became very popular and significantly contributed to growth of users’ visits and usage of library holdings of The Foreign Book Department at which young adults represent the most numerous group of users, as well as to the visibility of this Department in the local community.
