Attitudes and Habits
|
Summary
As a result of the digitalization of existing printed materials, library systems are increasingly becoming unavoidable part of the research process in modern education. This paper presents the results of our research aimed at examining attitudes of students from the Department of English Studies towards the use of two electronic sources, COBISS and KoBSON, as well as their habits regarding that kind of research work in general. Aim of this research was, first, to determine the extent to which students use these electronic resources, and then, to determine whether the year of study is a factor of impact. The research included 135 students from the Department of English Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad. According to our results, there are differences among students of different years, especially in terms of their knowledge of different library systems and the difficulties encountered in their use. The overall conclusion is that there is a grave need to educate students regarding the use of digital and virtual libraries in order to develop their academic research skills.
