The Implementation of Bibliotherapy in School Libraries
|
Summary
This paper describes the implementation of developmental bibliotherapy in school libraries. The developmental bibliotherapy is any planned use of books carried out with the aim to influence the personal growth and development. It is particularly relevant to the work of school libraries and school librarians. Taking part in the upbringing and educational activities, school libraries and school librarians have the opportunity to significantly influence the development path of a child, by making a right book available to a right person in the right moment. Therefore, schools and libraries should be the most important institutions in the implementation of bibliotherapy, and the task of a school librarian in this process should be to help each individual to find his book. The proper use of bibliotherapy in school libraries is of great importance for the development of children. It can be treated as a creative approach to the works of literature, as a support to knowledge, as a recommendation for reading or reading with the assistance of school bibliotherapists, to whom bibliotherapy can help to increase the attractiveness of their profession and impose themselves to the society they serve and for the sake of which they exist.
