Financial Innovations in Libraries
Summary
The paper deals with the analysis of financial innovations from the perspective of the development of the creative
economy with a focus on its application in libraries. Understanding libraries as a part of the creative economy
requires the implementation of financial innovations in everyday operations and activities. The application of
new technological solutions known as fintech innovations should bring better financing options and optimization
of resources. The first part of the paper examines the changes in the financing of culture brought about by the
development of the creative economy, especially its digital transformation. The second part of the paper deals
with basic concepts related to financial innovations in culture with an emphasis on fintech innovations, their
characteristics, and their types. The last part of the paper is devoted to the analysis the application of financial
innovations in libraries. The paper demonstrates that the application of financial innovation (especially in
fundraising) can allow libraries to generate revenues in the short term and reduce financing risks.
